Care Information:
Climate Adaptability: Thrives in temperate climates and performs well in most South African regions with moderate conditions. Protect from extreme heat and drying winds to maintain leaf quality.
Sun Exposure: Prefers morning sun with afternoon shade. While it can tolerate some sun, protection from harsh midday heat will help preserve foliage health and colour vibrancy.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but well-drained. Avoid waterlogged conditions, as proper drainage is essential for root health.
Soil Type: Prefers slightly acidic, well-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Good soil structure will support strong root development and vigorous growth.
Pruning: Minimal pruning required. Structural pruning can be done while dormant in winter. Remove dead or crossing branches to maintain an open, balanced canopy.
Fertilisation: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy foliage and vibrant autumn colour.
Mature Size: Reaches approximately 2.5–3 metres in 15 years with a broad, rounded growth habit.
